Ever wonder how to pick the perfect camping spot? How to set up once you get there?
Or perhaps most important: What (and HOW) to cook for dinner?
For the answers to these camping questions and more, check out this post from Sarah of SoTul Mom. Sarah wrote about her family’s recent camping trip to Buffalo River, complete with a boatload of tips on how to make your next camping adventure a perfect one.
Highlights we loved:
- Sarah’s list of Oklahoma camping spots. As Okies ourselves here at Head Country, we loved seeing Chickasaw National Recreation Area, Eagle Bluff Resort, and Natural Falls State Park get some love.
- Sarah’s photos of her and her family hiking, canoeing, and exploring waterfalls and caves. Looks like all of our favorite kinds of outdoor fun!
- Sarah’s checklist to help make sure you’re prepped and ready to cook once you set up camp. Check out her step-by-step guide on what to know before you go, what to prep, and what to pack—including tools and ingredients.
And, of course, we loved this:
We love to plan one really good, delicious meal just to make us feel fancy and reward ourselves for ALL of the TIME and energy it truly takes to go camping. We always bring a bottle of Head Country BBQ Sauce, its so versatile. They also have some great non-traditional flavors than can spice up any dish such as hamburgers, steaks, pork, or our delicious chicken kabobs.
Want more ideas for what to cook at a campout? These recipes are some of our favorites:
- Green Chili Cheeseburgers. These half-pounders from BBQ World Champion Doug Scheiding combine the perfect amount of spice and sauce for a mouth-watering campsite treat.
- Campfire Beer Braised BBQ Mussels. Ready to grill to thrill during your next campout? This is the recipe you need, right here. Hint: It’s easier (and even more fun) than it looks.
- Seared Shrimp & Sausage Skewers. Nothing says outdoor cooking quite like a skewer, and this meat-tastic kebobs cover all the mouth-watering basics.
And don’t forget to load up on Head Country BBQ sauce, seasoning, and marinade before you hit the road. It might not hurt to pick up a Head Country hat or an apron, too—if you’re going to cook like a BBQ champion, why not look the part?
